Touch Up Paint Guide
Where Can I Find My Paint Code?
Your Abarth paint code can usually be found on a silver sticker or plate inside the boot lid or bonnet. The code is typically 3 digits long and may include a letter after a slash.
Before ordering touch-up paint, make sure you select the correct paint code. If you're unsure, contact us with your vehicle registration number, and we'll be happy to help.
How Do I Repair a Stone Chip or Scratch?
Touch-up paint is the ideal solution for repairing small chips, scratches and paint imperfections. Simply ensure you order the correct colour using your vehicle's paint code.
How Do I Apply Touch-Up Paint?
- Clean and dry the affected area.
- Shake the touch-up paint for at least one minute.
- Apply thin coats using the brush provided or a fine brush/toothpick for small areas.
- Allow each coat to dry before applying additional layers if needed.
- Avoid applying too much paint at once to prevent runs.
- For best results, apply a clear lacquer over the repaired area once the paint has dried.
How Long Should I Leave Between Coats?
Drying times vary depending on temperature and weather conditions. This can range from 30 minutes to 24 hours. Avoid applying paint in wet or rainy conditions.
Do I Need a Clear Coat?
In most cases, yes. If your touch-up paint kit includes both colour paint and clear lacquer, both should be applied for the best finish and protection.
Does the Paint Include Lacquer?
Most touch-up paints include lacquer.
- Solid colours (commonly white, red, black and blue) are usually single-stage paints and may not require a separate lacquer.
- Metallic and pearlescent colours are supplied as a two-stage system and include a clear lacquer for the final coat.
